Haven’t done this in a while!

Sinuses – My sinuses are killing me. I’m sure it’s allergy related, but I can’t figure out what is making them flare up in the middle of winter.

College – Honey started back to college yesterday. He’s working on his Master’s degree and should start teaching full-time in the fall.

Facebook Friends – A few of us are getting together Friday night for another trip down memory lane. We all went to the same private school, so there should be lots to talk about.

Dwindling Down – I’ve reduced my post count significantly by deleting almost 300 entries – mainly articles that were political in nature.

I’m A Dork – I ordered new glasses last Saturday and picked them up on Tuesday. I noticed one of the screws was sticking out, so returned to the store the next day. They tried to fix them, broke the screw, ordered me a new set of frames, and sent me home with super-glued glasses.

Cloverfield – I thought the movie pretty much lived up to the hype when we went to see it yesterday, but the amateur style of filming gave Honey motion-sickness. I noticed the couple in front of us left about half-way through and never returned, probably suffering from the same ailment. There was plenty of applause when the film ended, and I hope it was for the movie and not the fact that it had ended.

Random Post Button – Ever worry that those brilliant posts that you wrote eons ago are permanently banished to some form of blog purgatory? Try out the button that I’ve added in my sidebar that you can click to display a random post from my archives. It’s quite fun and it enables your older gems to get resurrected every once in a while. If you want to make your own image/link, it should point to http://yourblogname.wordpress.com/random?

Home Improvement - We spent most of the weekend working around the house. I mowed the lawn, did some work on the landscaping, and cleaned the garage. Honey installed a new faucet in the kitchen. Well, actually two new faucets.

The first one was a Price Pfister and was beautiful, but thumped every time we turned the water off or used the attached sprayer. I found other people complaining online about the same problem, so he took it out and replaced it with a Delta. It was more expensive, but works the right way.

Contacts – I had an eye exam on Friday and they gave me a trial pair of contacts. I hate wearing glasses, but I think contacts might even be worse. My eyes are constantly dry and irritated, even though this brand is supposed to be one of the best.

Neighbor – We sprung her from the nursing home for a few hours on Friday. We went to eat fish and then spent a little while at her house figuring out how to rearrange some of the furniture that her physical therapist said needs to be moved out of the way.

She will be getting out of the nursing home on her 89th birthday, October 9. We plan on having some type of homecoming/birthday celebration at her house that evening.

Christmas in September – Lowe’s Home Improvement Store already had Christmas trees displayed and decorations on sale when we went on Saturday. Can we at least celebrate Halloween before we have to see Santa Claus and snowmen? Bah-humbug!

Walking – I felt completely fatigued when I got home from work today, but instead of languishing on the sofa, I decided to get some exercise. We walked a couple of miles and I found it very relaxing and energizing.

Gutters – I purchased and installed those solid gutter covers that are supposed to keep leaves out while letting the rain in. I have a nagging feeling that they were probably a complete waste of money.

Macy Gray – She’s growing like a weed and has gained a pound over the last three weeks! She amuses us constantly with her antics and simply couldn’t be cuter.

Bridges - Some 72,000 bridges in this country are considered structurally deficient. The cost to repair said bridges is around $60 billion, which is less than we spend per year in Iraq rebuilding the infrastructure that we destroyed. What a strange world.

Macy Gray – She’s such a cutie-patootie. It’s fun to watch her belly balloon out while she’s taking a bottle. By the time she’s done, she’s almost as big around as she is long.

Makeover – I gave my site an interface-lift this morning. I hope you like it, but don’t get too used to it. =)

Busy B – I’ve been very busy this last week with some side projects, which is the reason that I haven’t been posting much. Next week is shaping up to be pretty hectic, too, with the holiday and a church youth trip that we are chaperoning.

Heckuva Job, Brownie – I’m appalled at the leaders of this country. It takes them ten years to enact a minimum wage increase, but when they finally do, they have to reward themselves with a yearly raise of $4,400.

Charity – A local non-profit has chosen me to put together a website for them. Since they are strapped for cash and don’t really want to spend any money, I turned to WordPress. After contacting support and getting the “go ahead”, I’ve made a decent looking page for free (other than the domain costs).

Family – Spent lots of time with family members this weekend. Some of it was enjoyable, some of it was quite uncomfortable. I guess it’s always that way with family, though.

Friends – Also spent some time with the friend that I was reunited with recently. We went out for dinner and came back to watch Little Miss Sunshine, which is always a treat.

Church – Went to Mom’s church this morning. My sister and I wanted to surprise her for Mother’s Day, but it was strange to be back in the church that I grew up in. We took her out to eat afterwards and had a very nice time.

Adoption – I saw many of the people that I grew up with today at church. Almost all of them have their own families and I couldn’t help but feel a little pang of jealousy.

I would love to have a child and I’ve been spending quite a bit of time thinking about adoption lately. I don’t even know if it’s a possibility. The cost alone is intimidating, not to mention the challenges facing two men trying to raise a child. It seems a little unfair that we have to work so hard for what most take for granted.

These are the cards that life has dealt me and I understand that there are going to be some limitations and inconveniences. It still puzzles me how anyone could think we choose to be this way, considering how difficult it can be.
