Pinterest: Where a picture replaces 1000 words

I saw someone comment on television today about the rapid growth of Pinterest. They opined how people have gone from writing blog posts to posting short updates on Twitter and Facebook to simply posting pictures on Pinterest. It seems that our attentions spans have gotten so short that we would rather just see an image than actually take the time to read anything.
It’s pretty interesting how little it takes to engage people these days. Is this the end of the line, or can we reduce dialogue even more?

Jeez, I’ve never seen Pinterest as a replacement for dialogue at all. For me – as I am a very visual person – it’s the perfect online tool for bookmarking recipes and craft inspiration. Rather than collecting interesting stuff in folders on my computer, I have it all in one place and see what I want at a glance.
And if you look around a little, you can discover great blogs via Pinterest. It can trigger new dialogue, too… ;)
